So glad you’re here!
Hi, I’m Shelby—
a Board-Certified Sports Dietitian (RD, CSSD) and a runner who’s been exactly where you are.
I ran cross country in college and have been chasing finish lines ever since, including Boston. I know what it’s like to bonk at mile 20, to wonder whether you ate enough, and to sprint for a porta-potty mid-race. That’s a big part of why I do this work.
My background
I earned my degrees in nutrition and dietetics from Marywood University and the University of Vermont. I started my career as a Registered Dietitian in the US Navy, and for nine years I traveled the world teaching service members how to stay healthy and mission-ready. I deployed on the USNS Mercy and lived in Japan, Florida, and sunny San Diego. Everywhere I went, I helped people perform under real-world pressure.
Today I have 13 years of experience as an RD, 7 of them in sports and performance nutrition. I’m also a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD). Only a small fraction of dietitians hold it.
Why I started Shelby Naughton Nutrition
In 2023 I opened my private practice. There’s so much nutrition misinformation online, and runners deserve better than guessing. I help endurance athletes fuel for training and race day, fix GI issues, and recover well enough to actually enjoy the rest of their weekend.
No rigid meal plans and no fear of food. Just practical, science-backed strategies that fit your training and your life.
When I’m not working
You’ll find me running, hiking, gardening, or outside with my husband and dogs.
Wherever you are in your running journey, I’d love to help you fuel smarter and perform better.
Best,
Shelby
